May is Mental Health Awareness Month and recent research has revealed the pandemic has certainly had a negative impact on our nation's mental health.

Here's another indicator of just how serious the state of our nation's mental health crisis has become.

A report released just this week by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows gun deaths in the U.S. increased by 35% in 2020 when the pandemic first began and when lockdowns were at their most severe.

If you feel you are a danger to yourself or others, know someone who is, or you just want someone to talk with, help is available.

In El Paso, you can call the Emergence Health Network's crisis hotline at (915) 779-1800.

You can also call a toll-free nationwide crisis hotline at 1-877-562-6467.
