EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A new U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility with the capacity to hold 2,500 migrants opened in El Paso, according to a Tweet by El Paso Sector Border Patrol Chief Anthony Good Tuesday.
The 360,000-square-foot soft-sided processing facility sits on 28 acres in northeast El Paso.
The facility on Mesquite Hills off U.S. 54. operates 24 hours a day and has on-site contracted child care, food services, security and medical personnel.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, unlawful entries between ports of entry along the border have decreased by more than 70% since May 11.
