Terry served as head coach at UTEP for three seasons with a record of 37-48 (19-33 in conference) and 0-2 in the conference tournament. UTEP did not make any postseason tournaments under Terry.

Terry is under contract at UTEP for $725,000 per year, with a salary reduction of $530,000 due to the pandemic last season, through the 2024 season. His contract buyout is $500,000.

The University of Texas at El Paso released a statement Tuesday saying Terry resigned as UTEP men’s basketball coach.

“We would like to thank Coach Terry and his staff for the work they have put in to build our program over the last three years,” Director of Athletics Jim Senter said. “We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Senter said they are searching for school's next basketball coach.
